What is a good small breed dog shampoo?

and also is there such a shampoo that can be used on both dogs and cats from the same container for fleas that is consider to be safe? What is a good small breed dog shampoo?
Baby Shampoo!! It cleans beautifully, is safe, and kills fleas too! The fur is left soft and smelling wonderful. I use it on my BIG dog, on any new cat or dog that comes through, and even on my kid. I won't waste my money on anything else, because it WORKS GREAT! The dogs always got commented on by judges too! What is a good small breed dog shampoo?
Adam's Flea and Tick, avoid Hartz products like the plague!!!
HI, I HAVE FRONTLINED MY DOGS,AND I ALWAYS USE PUPPY SHAMPOO, ITS GREAT FOR SENSITIVE SKIN AND WONT HURT THE EYES.
Actually you shouldnt use any products made for Humans. They have different chemicals which can dry out or leave their skin oily and irritated. Baby shampoo is gentle enough to use however its not great for their coat.

My pups really like ';Fresh and Clean'; and it comes in an oatmeal and puppy formula, theres several others but those are the two I have tried. The puppy one is like human baby shampoo- doesnt hurt their eyes but it also made for them.

My pup has sensitive skin so a bath once a month with the Oatmeal formula works really well, and it is great flea and tick shampoo. It also doesnt smell all perfumy it just smells clean, which is great because the smell of ';wet dog'; isnt always pleasant!

You shouldnt be bathing a cat- they realllly dont like it and cats generally clean themselves you might wipe their coat off with a damp cloth but if you put them in the bathtub full of water it will be very painful for both of you and cats remember that kind of stuff.

When you bathe them I found its really easy to fill the tub with warm water first instead of letting them sit there and listen to the faucet. Plus by the time they are in they are comfortable and warm *really eases my pups tension!

And Jo is right on about the type of shampoo per coat- also make sure its ok for their skin!!

Best of Luck!!
Cats need baths very infrequently. Dogs only need a bath weekly or even monthly for some depending on their coat and skin. The type of shampoo you want is dependent upon the coat and skin of your dog. Take your dog to a big pet store like PetSmart and ask their employees, or the groomer there to recommend a shampoo for your dog's coat type.

For fleas, there are products like Advantage or BioSpot that can be purchased but use only as directed according to age and weight of the dog or cat. Also, some cats like Persians and some Domestic Long-Haired Cats react badly to some anti-flea products that other cats tolerate well. Pet Smart trains their employees to recommend the products that are safe for your pet.

Vets sell Advantage.

Protection against fleas is most effective using these sort of products.

While baby shampoo does repel fleas to a degree, if you live in areas where fleas are prevalent, you will do yourself a favor to get an adequate flea preventative product.
I used to wash both dogs and cats with Dr. Bronner's liquid soap (a gentle castile soap that they sell in bottles at natural food stores, mostly, and the religious preaching on the labels is a trip.) The best was the almond oil version -- leaves pets' fur fluffy and soft and they smell wonderful! I've also used the lavender scent which, I have heard, tends to repel fleas though I can't swear to it. Don't use the peppermint oil Dr. Bronners though because it can sting the animal's eyes a little and some don't like the smell.
Magic coat for the dog and Zodiac for fleas on both. However I use just regular old dawn dish liquid soap. It works great for both and is safe to use. As the other they could have allergic reaction to. And once a month is about all they need in bathing - otherwise you'll strip their skin and coats of their natural protective oils.
baby shampoo. seriously it works. i'm a vet tech at a clinic in cali. thats what i recommend to everyone. costs like a dollar and works better then most dog shampoos.
I USE BABY SHAMPOO ON MY DOG BECAUSE IT REALLY DOES WORK VERY GOOD!MY COUSIN USES BABY SHAMPOO ON HER KITTEN TOO!!
