Is it okay to bathe your kitty with dog shampoo?

My cat was covered in turd this morning and had a bloody eye, dont have a clue how it happened, so i bathed her in puppy shampoo.. was that okay or will she get a skin irritation from it?Is it okay to bathe your kitty with dog shampoo?
I'm going to assume that you were just cleaning her up before taking her to the vet as any injuries to the eye should be considered seriously. My neighbor once had a cat come in with a bleeding eye. She waited to take it to the vet and the eye got infected. The infection traveled into the ear canal of the cat and caused permanent damage there. The damage in the ear made her lose her sense of balance and she never fully recovered. (She's still very tippy and leans to one side when she walks).

My vet prescribed us a pet shampoo that says on the bottle that its good for cats, dogs, bunnies and horses, so I don't think it should be too bad. My cat never got any irritations from it so I think its possible for shampoos to be multi-purpose. To be safe just don't use it again and make sure you rinse your kitty really well. It may just be that they just market the product towards dogs, not really believing that many people will bathe their cats but there's no way be able to tell. Keep an eye on your cat and ask you vet. (bring the bottle with). Buy a proper kitten shampoo and bathe your cat with it to get rid of anything that might be too doggy. Is it okay to bathe your kitty with dog shampoo?
You need to be more responsible with your animals. If your animal is bleeding, ESPECIALLY from the eye it should be taken to a vet immediately. You also should not be using dog products on a cat! Especially a kitten. You need to give up your animal to someone who will take care of it properly rather then let it live with you and suffer. There are plenty of shelter who will take it. Giving your cat away is free and can be done anonymously.
Bring your cat to the veterinarian immediately. the bloody eye could lead to very serious infection. And you should not bathe your cat at all, because cats clean themselves by licking themselves, and they don't need shampoo to help them with that. It depends what brand the dog shampoo is, but using that might irritate the eyes even More. Bring your kitty to the local veterinarian. The longer you wait, the more she will need it. Hope this helps!
Never wash a cat with dog/puppy shampoo. Check the bottle and see if ';tea tree oil'; is in there. Cats can get sick and even die if that ingredient is in the shampoo.

Since it was puppy, it may be ok, but next time either use a mild baby shampoo or just have kitten/cat shampoo on hand.

If the kitten has not been to the vet for the eye problem, get him/her in there now.
You should go see a vet with that. A bloody eye can lead to a serious infection! The shampoo may've taken care of the crap all over him (or her), but the eye is something you should worry about.

Alot of animal deaths are caused by infections of some kind, and the most common infections are from wounds that haven't been trated correctly!

I wish you the best
Yes there is a possibility of skin irration but also kitten shampoo is made specifically for kittens because of the way that they lick to clean themselves. I would not use dog shampoo on a cat for this reason. You should get her eye checked.
No way!!! you are crazy if you do that. If it says DOG then it means its made for dogs skin and fur.

And yes, get him/her to the vet if she's bleeding, honestly, you could be resonsible for a very poorly kitty later.
